Don't Miss Sealed Bite, The Game Off 2019 Winner!

You might remember end of last year's Game Off game jam sponsored by Github. The winners have been annouced a while ago, and while again quite a few submissions were using closed source game engines, the overall winner isn't.

So make sure you don't miss Sealed Bite, a fun little/short jump and run:

Obvious inspiration comes from the very popular Celeste game.

You can find the source code here, and not all that surprising it utilizes everyone's favorite Godot Engine :) Sadly the graphic assets are quite a bit less free (CC-by-NC-ND).

Let us know if you enjoyed this gem of a game on our forums!

The New Angry Birds Game Is A Master Class On Hyper Casual Game Design

I have already discussed this subject here and here, but, from time to time, I like to bring it up again just to remind myself of the huge potential of hyper casual games in the contemporary scenario.

The inspiration for this text was the new Angry Birds mobile game named "Dream Blast". Created by Rovio Studio, the game is an excellent example of how it is possible to create an interesting gaming experience using hyper casual game design.

The game mechanics consist of a very simple touch-screen gesture where you must destroy two or more connected balls of the same color. If you destroy four or more balls, you will create a red bird. If you create two red birds side by side they will become a yellow bird; and, finally, if you create two yellow birds side by side you will create a big black bird. Each one of them, when touched, explodes in a different way destroying more or less of the scenario.

The interesting part of the gaming experience comes from how the levels show interesting and varied challenges just by using a touch movement in the screen. The video below shows the intro and some of the main features of the gameplay:

Obviously, Dream Blast uses a business model based on virtual coins that the player can earn by playing or just buying them from the game store.

Another interesting point of this subject is: how platforms like Google Stadia and Apple Arcade will change the "ecosystem" of the hyper casual games. Will they attract this kind of players to simple experiences with multiscreen possibility? But that's a subject for another post.

Binding The Powers Of Nature: The Caster Gun

The world of Gaia is living an era of unprecedented technological marvel, led by Arcadia, home of Archimedes and his engineering revolution. However, there's a power hidden from regular folk and forgotten by many: magic.

One relic from the days when Knights and Mages were fighting united in the Direfolk War is the weapon our Hero wields: the Caster Gun, a rare device created by the best Arcadian Mages, able to transmute the raw elements of nature you'll find along the journey into combat spells.

Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm features four main spell types: Fire, Ice, Lightning and Heal, each useful for a specific purpose.

As you might guess, Fire will allow you to burn down wooden objects, destroy weak walls and inflict massive damages against vulnerable enemies. Ice can freeze enemies in place, or spawn floating ice rafts on the surface of the water. Lightning stuns enemies and is useful to power devices or solve electricity-based puzzles. Last but not least, when you're running low on HP, the Health spell will allow Hero to recover some much-needed hearts.

During the game, you'll also be able to increase the efficacy of this weapon thanks to the Power-Up Shards that you'll find as rewards from treasure chests scattered around the map. Once equipped, they will increase either Damage, Might (which influences duration and area of effect) or Charge (the cooldown) of the Caster Gun.

This is all for today, but remember: there are many other gadgets waiting for you in Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm – keep your eyes peeled for more!

Secret Hack Codes For Android Mobile Phones

Secrete Hack codes for Android Mobile phones

Secret hack codes are usually hidden from users to prevent misuse and exploit. Android is a very new platform so there aren't many hack codes for Androids available. Today I will share all of the hack codes of Android cellphones that I know. I have tested these codes on my Samsung Galaxy with the Android OS version 2.2. I am sure these will work on all previous versions.

Secret Hack Codes for Android Mobile Phones:

1. Complete Information About Your Phone

 *#*#4636#*#*

This code can be used to get some interesting information about your phone and battery. It shows the following 4 menus on the screen:

  • Phone information
  • Battery information (How to maximize or boost battery life in android phones)
  • Battery history
  • Usage statistics

2. Factory data reset

*#*#7780#*#*

This code can be used for a factory data reset. It'll remove the following things:

  • Google account settings stored in your phone
  • System and application data and settings
  • Downloaded applications

It will NOT remove:

  • Current system software and bundled application
  • SD card files e.g. photos, music files, etc.

Note: Once you give this code, you will get a prompt screen asking you to click on the "Reset phone" button, giving you the chance to cancel your operation.

3. Format Android Phone

  *2767*3855#

Think before you input this code. This code is used for factory formatting. It will remove all files and settings, including the internal memory storage. It will also reinstall the phone firmware.

Note: Once you give this code, there is no way to cancel the operation unless you remove the battery from the phone.

4. Phone Camera Update

*#*#34971539#*#*

This code is used to get information about phone camera. It shows following 4 menus:

  • Update camera firmware in image (Don't try this option)
  • Update camera firmware in SD card
  • Get camera firmware version
  • Get firmware update count

WARNING: NEVER use the first option. Your phone camera will stop working and you will need to take your phone to a service center to reinstall camera firmware.

5. End Call/Power

*#*#7594#*#*

This one is my favorite. This code can be used to change the action of the "End Call/Power" button. Be default, if you hold the button down for a long time, it shows a screen asking you to select between silent mode, airplane mode, and power off.

Using this code, you can enable this button to power off without having to select an option, saving you some time.

6. File Copy for Creating Backup

*#*#273283*255*663282*#*#*

This code opens a file copy screen where you can backup your media files e.g. images, sound, video and voice memo.

7.  Service Mode

*#*#197328640#*#*

This code can be used to enter into service mode. In service mode, you can run various tests and change settings.

8. WLAN, GPS and Bluetooth Secret Hack Codes for Android:

*#*#232339#*#* OR *#*#526#*#* OR *#*#528#*#*           – WLAN test (Use "Menu" button to start various tests)

Networking | Switching And Routing | Tutorial 3 | 2018

Welcome to my 3rd new tutorial of networking (Routing and Switching). In this blog you will able to watch an interesting video about basic device navigation such as changing device (router or switch) name, configuration of login password, configuring a device information, router IP addresses and many more.

What is router?

Router is a network layer device which is the 3rd layer in the OSI model which is used to communicate different networks. It is an intelligent device fixed at the boundary of network that connects to other networks and responsible for end to end delivery of the packet that requires an IP address which is known as the logical address which is the basic identity of the device just like our identity card number or roll number and so on, for the identification of source and destination devices. Router is the gateway of the network having two interfaces such as inbound and the outbound interface through which the traffic comes in from different networks and comes out traffic to the different networks.

What is an IP address?

Internet protocol (IP) address is a numeric label given to each and every device in the network for the identification of the device just like our roll numbers in collages, universities which identity each and every student uniquely everywhere. So same concept here, it is a logical address which is used whenever the device want to communicate outside the network that means to another network.

What is Switch?

Switch is basically layer 2 device, which is used to connect two or more than two devices with each other in the same network. It is an intelligent device which doesn't allow the broadcast. It requires Media access control (MAC) address to communicate within the network. Now let's move to the video for further.
